Beyond the idea of Ireland that has established in the minds of most people outside of the country, exists a place which doesn't fit well with these preconceived narratives. Midleton, a suburban town in County Cork is a prime example of this. The idea of Midletopia combines the utopian life shown in housing brochures, and the actual places that are created.
In Midletopia you can see the borders between the old and the new Ireland. Through my photography I have wanted to showcase aspects of this new Ireland, which has a distinctive no-place feeling and is derived from the rapid expansion of the Celtic Tiger and post-Celtic Tiger years, and the cultural issues that have arised from this
